The Day the Republic Died

While this epitaph may be a little melodramatic for some, this government run amok brings smiles to only a select few. Pro-regressives have long dreamt of taking over healthcare, and now they have placed a noose around another condemned industry. Health insurance companies will become in essence agencies of the federal government.

Pro-regressives rail constantly against the ill-gotten gains of healthcare companies, which will now become big beneficiaries of government funding as a result of “reform.” So, profits from selling healthcare insurance are pure evil, but receiving largesse from taxpayers is okay as long as bureaucratic control is established.

Some argue that Alexis de Tocqueville in the 1830’s was prescient in predicting that the American experiment in democratic governance would end when politicians determined a way to bribe the people with their own money, but not anymore. ObamaScare has gone way beyond that spending even more money that simply doesn’t exist.

It’s hard watching the absolute glee of pro-regressives as they celebrate their victory over the free market. They ridicule the predictions of doom from common sense conservatives saying that was what was said when Social Security was passed, when Medicare was passed. Well, Social Security and Medicare have literally trillions in unfunded liabilities.

America’s government is way beyond just going broke. What will pro-regressive say when the dollar collapses? It’s only a matter of time when other nations realize that America will never repay its debts. When that happens, our economic system will go into freefall that will make what happened in October 2008 seem like a picnic in comparison. Yet, pro-regressives will blame Bush, the Republicans, the free market, anyone but themselves.

Pro-regressives also promise that healthcare premiums will go down. That promise is just as good as Obama’s executive order banning federal money for abortions because all the new regulations will only make premiums skyrocket. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) in a senate speech admitted they will, even though Obama promised to a cheering crowd of Obamaton zombies premiums would drop 3000%. No, that wasn’t a misprint. That’s Obama who doesn’t understand math telling an audience who doesn’t understand math.

Congressman Bart Stupak, infamous author of the Stupak amendment, which supposedly stopped federal funding for abortion, caved on his opposition to the senate bill that did not have his ban. Instead, Stupak accepted a presidential executive order that gave Obama’s promise that he wouldn’t direct any money towards abortions. This is from a president who on his first day signed an executive order allowing federal funding for abortions overseas.

From now on, “Stupak stands for stupid.” Either he thinks that Americans are so stupid to believe his compromise with the president had any actual meaning and was not folding like a cheap suit on his pro-life stance. Or, he was actually so stupid to accept Obama signing of a piece of paper, which could be repealed in less time than it takes to blink.

Pro-regressives also act like their so-called benefits will create a new healthcare nirvana for Americans. One in particular allows parents to keep their little children on their health plan until age 26. Well, why not 36 or 46? Maybe, parents should be allowed to keep their kids covered even after they have died.

So, was there major clamoring from the people for this new benefit? Were parents marching in Washington demanding that their post college unemployed kids be allowed to free loaf for a few more years after the end of their schooling? Pro-regressives if they aren’t promoting dependency on government will settle with advocating dependency in the home.

While forcing pre-conditions be insured won’t start for adults until 2014, Obama promised that children with pre-conditions would no longer be denied health insurance starting almost immediately. But somehow that benefit was removed from the final bill.

One Obamaton, defending Obama when accused of his misstatement was because he didn’t read his own bill before signing it, argued that no one could make that assumption. Right, so let’s just reason that Obama read the entire bill and naturally deduce that he lied, again.

Many have commented that after ObamaScare passed, Obama still made speeches trying to persuade a concerned populace where already 59% want his reform repealed. Usually after a president passes major bipartisan legislation, he stops pushing it because a majority already supports it. Oh wait, that never happened with ObamaScare.

And while Obama travels the country making even more speeches on ObamaScare, there’s one place he need not go. Cuba, Fidel Castro has already heaped huge praise on ObamaScare’s passage. Seems he likes America’s new “Blob-verment” that has just swallowed another sixth of the economy. Something Castro did in Cuba years ago.

When government thinks it can run your life better than you can, run for your life.
